Voyageurs National Park will be offering the following winter equipment rentals for FREE at these events:
January 23, 2026: Snowshoes will be offered for free during the evening Candlelight Snowshoe Hike at Rainy Lake Visitor Center, which is part of the local Icebox Days event.
February 14 & 15, 2026: Cross-country skis and snowshoes will be offered for free all day from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center as a part of the Boreal Stargazing Week events.
Rental purchases are good for a single use Friday through Monday from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center only and are valid between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4 p.m., regardless of the time equipment is checked out.
Due to overlap in youth/adult sizing, inventory may be limited in some sizes. Contact the Rainy Lake Visitor Center at (218) 286 - 5258 to inquire about the availability of specific sizes.
Pets are not allowed on park-maintained trails but are welcome on open frozen lake surfaces. All pets must be leashed and attended to while in the park.

Tickets for Voyageurs National Park Winter Equipment Rentals will become available as winter conditions allow, typically in the first half of January.
Please note that this is not a tour; rental ticket reservations are for recreation equipment from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center to be used in a self-guided manner on area trails or lakes.
Winter Equipment Rental cancellations must be made by midnight on the day before rental for a refund of all fees except a non-refundable $3 cancellation fee.
No refunds for no-shows, weather, or cancellations made on the arrival day.
