Snake River Non-Commercial Group Use Launch Timed Reservations
This permit is for fee-free days (see below).
For groups floating the whitewater section (taking out at Sheep Gulch) - This ticket provides a launch time from West Table Boat Ramp for a large group 16-30 people. Applicant may select 2 launches per day. No more than 2 consecutive days. Applicant may select 2 launches per day but may not launch more than 2 consecutive days. The float times will vary depending on put-in and take-out.
*Applicants can opt for other launches after they have reserved their launch time. Email SM.FS.JD_SRP@usda.gov if you would like to launch from one of the other ramps for your whitewater float.
Fee-free days for 2026:
June 7th (Wyoming Kids Fishing Day), June 13 (National Get Outdoors Day), June 19th (Juneteenth), July 4 (Independence Day), September 7 (Labor Day), September 26, 2026 (National Public Lands Day) and October 27 (Theodore Roosevelt's Birthday). On fee free days, you are not required to pay $3 per person for the special recreation area permit, but the $2 rec.gov reservation fee is still required.
2 launch times are allowed per day. No more than 2 days in a row. Over the course of the season, a maximum 12 days may be reserved.
Only 2 consecutive days of launches are allowed. If 3 are booked, your reservation will be cancelled.
30 people maximum are allowed to float at one time with a permit.
If your group is larger than 30 you will be provided one permit for the entire group. Groups over 30 are required to take turns launching so as to provide the opportunity for all members to float.
Example: 60 people in a group = 1 group permit with 2 launches = 30 people each launch
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK LAUNCH TIMES 30 MINUTES APART AND JOIN UP ON THE RIVER - This is prohibited and will result in a citation.
No more than 4 boats per launch, even with permit. If you have multiple smaller watercraft and less than 4 rafts, please reach out to the permit office at sm.fs.jd_srp@usda.gov.
To prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS), you must clean, inspect, and dry your boats and equipment prior to visiting the Snake River. For information go to: wgfd.wyo.gov/Fishing-and- Boating/Aquatic-Invasive-Species-Prevention (a state AIS boat decal is required by the state of Wyoming).
Please check in at the kiosk located next to the boat ramp at West Table when you arrive; no matter where your assigned launch area is. You must show rangers the permit and a photo ID prior to launch.
