A Many Glacier Day Hiker Shuttle Ticket is required for each person accessing the Many Glacier area. The ticket is valid for one day.
The Day Hiker Shuttle provides round trip service from one of nine designated parking pull-outs marked as shuttle parking and pick-up locations along the Many Glacier Road between Sherburne Dam and the Many Glacier Entrance Station and the Many Glacier Hotel in Glacier National Park.
Due to limited parking in the Many Glacier Valley during summer 2025 as a result of the Swiftcurrent Construction Project, there will be no general public entrance into Many Glacier between July 1 and September 21, 2025. Glacier National Park will provide a temporary shuttle service for day hikers to access the Many Glacier Valley from July 1 to September 21, 2025. For more information on the Swiftcurrent Construction Project and operations in the Many Glacier Valley during summer 2025, visit the Road Construction and Infrastructure Project Work page.
The Many Glacier Day Hiker Shuttle allows you to leave your vehicle in one of nine existing pull-outs designated for shuttle parking. These pull-outs are marked as “Shuttle Parking and Pick-up" locations along the Many Glacier Road, between Sherburne Dam and the Many Glacier Entrance Station. Once parked in a designated shuttle pick-up location, you will board the shuttle for a ride to the Many Glacier Hotel. Access to all trails will begin at the Many Glacier Hotel, with maps and signs indicating detours around the construction zone. For more details about visitor services and trail detours for summer 2025, visit the Road Construction and Infrastructure Project Work page.

Shuttle service will begin at 7:00 a.m., with the first pick up located at the parking pull-out nearest to Sherburne Dam. Shuttles will operate on a 20-minute headway. Riders must wait at a designated shuttle parking and pick-up location to board the shuttle.
Shuttle service will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A ticket is required for inbound shuttle service. A ticket is not required for outbound shuttle service, and visitors may choose to board a departing shuttle at any time when service is available.
Remember, the last bus departs from the Many Glacier Hotel at 8:00 p.m. Do not be late! There are no other public transportation services available to return from the Many Glacier Hotel to your parked vehicle after 8:00 p.m.
All passengers riding the Many Glacier Day Hiker Shuttle will need two things: a Day Hiker Shuttle Ticket and a valid park entrance pass. Entrance passes should be purchased on Recreation.gov before arrival. If you, or someone in your group, already has an America The Beautiful Interagency Annual, Senior, Access, Military, Veterans, 4th Grade, or Volunteer Pass, this pass will cover your park entrance fee. A valid park entry pass is also required for each party boarding the shuttle. These passes could include any of the following: a $35 vehicle entrance pass, good for seven days; a valid Interagency Annual/Lifetime Pass; or a Glacier National Park Annual Pass. Shuttles will stop near the Many Glacier Entrance station where park entry passes will be validated prior to entry.
Shuttle buses will comply with federal accessibility standards; however, most shuttle stops east of the entrance station do not meet these standards. Visitors with mobility disabilities holding a Many Glacier Day Hiker Shuttle ticket can park in one of two accessible parking spaces near the accessible restroom on the Many Glacier entrance road and board the shuttle or self-transport into the valley. To self-transport, they must present their shuttle ticket along with an accessible placard or an “America the Beautiful – Access Pass” to the entrance staff. Parking availability inside Many Glacier is not guaranteed.
Parking spaces cannot accommodate vehicles over 21 feet or vehicles with trailers.
Shuttle tickets will be scanned when hikers board the shuttles.
Hikers without a shuttle ticket will not be permitted to ride the shuttle.
Parking areas along the Many Glacier Road will be reserved for ticketed shuttle riders only, and parking will only be allowed at designated parking locations. Only one shuttle ticket is required per vehicle and will admit all members of the party included in the vehicle.
No overnight parking will be permitted in the parking areas for ticketed shuttle riders.
This temporary hiker shuttle service, accessed through a ticket purchase on Recreation.gov, is not part of the vehicle reservation system that the park has been piloting since 2021, but a temporary solution for day hikers to access Many Glacier Valley during construction. Learn more about the timed entry system on the Timed Entry Vehicle Reservation page, or purchase a timed entry vehicle reservation.
Prior to July 1 and after September 21, entrance to Many Glacier is accessible without a day hiker shuttle ticket, wilderness permit, commercial service, or lodging reservation. However, because parking is limited to the Many Glacier Hotel parking lot, capacity will be reached quickly, and daily temporary access restrictions are expected. Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, Many Glacier Campground, and all trailhead parking in the Swiftcurrent area will be closed through mid-May 2026.
All waters in the Many Glacier Valley will be closed to private personal watercraft the entire 2025 season.
Access to all trails will begin at the Many Glacier Hotel parking lot, maps and signs will indicate detours around the construction zone. Hikers should be aware that detours may add up to an extra mile each way to hiking distances.
Visitors without a day hiker shuttle ticket, wilderness permit, commercial service, or lodging reservation, are encouraged not to drive into the valley past Babb, there will be no parking and additional traffic will create congestion and dust. With no available general parking, hiking and biking will not be allowed on the Many Glacier Road between July 1 and September 21.
Pursuant to the American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978, tribal members will have access to enter Many Glacier Valley during all hours when the entrance station is staffed.
Cell service is unreliable or unavailable in and around the park. Please have a printed copy, downloaded digital copy, or screenshot of your shuttle ticket(s) ready prior to your arrival.
