Sand Lake Recreation Area 4Th of July Tickets
Sand Lake provides over 1,000 acres of sand dunes. Sand Access tickets allow for motorized day use and dispersed camping in all sand dune areas that are open to motor vehicle travel. There are no designated campsites in the open sand. Visitors camping overnight must buy tickets for each day of their stay. Vehicles with sand access tickets will not be allowed to park in any paved day use or overnight parking areas. Each ticket provides access for one highway legal vehicle and one towed trailer.
Need to Know
- Parking Restrictions
Vehicles with Sand Access tickets are not allowed to park at the West Winds, Fisherman, East Dunes, or Sandbeach recreation sites.
- Dates of Access
Visitors wishing to camp must buy tickets for each day of their stay.
- Campsites
There are no designated campsites on the sand dunes. Camping is permitted in all areas that are open to motorized use.
- Printed or Digital Ticket Required
Print your ticket at home or save a digital copy to your phone. Internet service at Sand Lake is unreliable. Screenshots or printouts of the confirmation email will not be accepted.
- Beach Access
Obey posted travel management signs when driving on the beach. Please respect closure areas for snowy plover nesting habitat.
- Alcohol Regulations
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the open riding area.
- Driving on the Sand
This location requires driving on soft sand. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended.
- Night Riding Curfew
Motor vehicle use in the open riding area is prohibited from midnight to 6 AM.
