Price Field Office

Overview

Price Field Office is managed by Bureau of Land Management and is located near Price, Utah.

The Price Field Office (PFO) is located at the northwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau--the gateway to the red-rock country and the San Rafael Swell. The Swell has been described as the jagged remains of a dinosaur backbone, an exposed sandstone coral reef, and a stone saw blade. No matter how you describe this place, it is desolate, but beautiful country. Activities that can be enjoyed on public lands around the PFO include, river float trips, camping, hiking and biking. Traveling east, you will find the Green River, a premiere river trip in Utah's deepest canyon that runs through Desolation and Gray Canyons. Nine-Mile Canyon just west of the Green River is a major representative area of the prehistoric Fremont Culture where one can see many panels of rock art. The Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry contains the densest concentration of Jurassic aged bones ever found and shouldn't be missed. The area is rich in resources such as; oil, gas, coal, uranium, gypsum, and a host of others. Housed in the PFO management area are three Wild Horse and Burro Management Areas and the largest wilderness study area in the contiguous 48 states.
