2026 Excursion to Moscow Country Street Fair July 25th 11:00am to 2:00pm
Celebrate the summer with a diesel-powered train ride to the Moscow Country Street Fair, hosted by the North Pocono Cultural Society. Enjoy family fun, live entertainment and community spirit. This beloved annual event returns with the theme “Hometown Roots and Cowboy Boots.” Enjoy music, kids’ activities, local culture, and food and craft vendors. Check out the Quilt Show at the Moscow United Methodist Church and the Art Show on Main Street. Be sure to say hello to our friends at the firehouse and Moscow train station.
Station Description and Details
History: The original name for Moscow was Drinker’s Beech, for the abundance of beech trees in an area owned by Henry W. Drinker. The town of Moscow grew from a small tavern and settlement as an expansion of the Philadelphia & Great Bend Turnpike, nicknamed Drinker’s Turnpike. Eventually, Moscow would be cemented as a community when the new Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad built through the town with a station in 1856. With the rail connection, Moscow would continue to grow with various mills, one such mill owned by the Van Brunt family would supply milled lumber to the Steinway Piano Company. In the twentieth century, Moscow would supply workers to the mines in and around Scranton, for which the Lackawanna Railroad would provide a special train nicknamed “the accommodation train” to help miners and railroaders alike commute back and forth. The Victorian style freight and passenger stations were designed by Frank J. Nies and built in 1904.
Today, the station is currently maintained by the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railroad Historical Society . It serves as a destination for the Steamtown National Historic Site Excursions.
Amenities: When excursions return, visitors to the historic station will find a variety of train memorabilia such as historic photos, book/magazines and souvenirs for sale, along with light snacks & beverages and hot dogs.

Need to Know
- Tour Safety
Train riders are reminded to remain seated, keep heads, hands, and arms inside the windows, and to use care when stepping up or down boarding and disembarking from the passenger coach.
- Handicap Accessible
Train coach number 303 has space for two wheelchairs or mobility devices. Please call 570-445-1898 for more information.
- Check In
Check in at the ticket and information booth before proceeding to the boarding platform.
- Duration of Stop
The train will stay at the Moscow train station for 2 hours.
Be sure to return to the train at least fifteen minutes earlier than the scheduled departure time.
- Food and Refreshments
Food and refreshments are available for purchase at the Moscow train station.
- Restrooms
There is one restroom in each passenger coach. Portable toilets are available at the destination.
- Weather
The train operates rain or shine but may occasionally be cancelled because of severe weather events.
