Campbell Creek Science Center K-12 Youth Field Trips
Imagine the discoveries you will make as you explore Alaska’s natural world! The BLM Campbell Creek Science Center (CCSC) offers dynamic field trips for K-12 students—field trips that bring learning and science to life and help youth connect with nature. Friends of Campbell Creek Science Center provides scholarships for Title I and near Title I schools (schools with >33% participation in the free and reduced-price meal program). If your school or group does not fall into that category, please sign up for a field trip here. Times for three-hour programs include a lunch break and are flexible. They will fit within the time frame for ASD Activity buses. If you need a transportation scholarship for buses, please email sciencecenter@blm.gov.
You will indicate your group’s grade and program topic choice in the text field for grade when you check out. Maximum group size of 60 students per day. One lead teacher should sign up for your school's program. If possible, please sign up for at least 40 students (two classes or more) if requesting a transportation scholarship. Programs are three-hours in length.
When you register, you will pay a $10 non-refundable reservation fee. Scholarship program fees are $2/student. You will pay your program fees (# students x $2 = Total program fees) on the day of your field trip with a card or check.
All CCSC programs are aligned with Alaska Science Standards and are fully accessible. Notify CCSC in advance of any special needs or requirements for your group. Wheelchairs available. At Campbell Creek Science Center, everyone is a scientist. Let us guide your journey!

CCSC requires that you bring a minimum of two chaperones per 17 students for your field trip. However, chaperones do not need tickets to attend your field trip to CCSC; please do not enter any tickets for chaperones.
Bear and moose are common on the Campbell Tract. Always pay attention for wild animals, give them lots of space, and practice “bear aware” techniques (e.g., travel in groups, make noise, etc.).
There is a lunch break and room to eat lunch in the Campbell Creek Science Center. Please plan on students bringing a lunch or providing school sack lunches for students.
Programs take place primarily outdoors. Temperatures can be 10 degrees colder than other parts of Anchorage. Ensure children and adults come dressed for the weather, including layers and proper footwear for indoor and outdoor activities.
Field trips take place in all seasons and are not cancelled due to weather. The exception is if your district cancels due to weather.
A paved path leads from the parking lot to the building entrance. Handicapped parking is located near the start of this path in the parking lot; an additional spot is located at both the north and south ends of the building. Accessible restrooms are available.
The Science Center does not have public Wi-Fi and cell service is spotty.
Accessible restrooms with a changing station are available inside the facility. There are no family restrooms available.
