Acadia National Park is among the smallest and most popular national parks in the United States with more than 3.5 million visits a year. Growing visitation has caused severe traffic and parking congestion at the park’s most popular destinations, including Cadillac Mountain. The National Park Service has established a vehicle reservation system for Cadillac Summit Road so visitors can find a place to park and have a safer, more enjoyable experience. Vehicle reservations are not required for other locations in the park or for visitors who enter the area by foot, bicycle, or taxi.
Visitors must have a park entrance pass or an interagency pass, in addition to purchasing a vehicle reservation for Cadillac Summit Road. Park entrance passes are available at the park or online at Recreation.gov.
Vehicle reservations must be purchased in advance on Recreation.gov.
Vehicle reservations are not available for purchase at the park.
Vehicle reservations are per vehicle, not per person.
The number of vehicle reservations are limited as follows:
Cadillac Summit Road - Sunrise: 1 vehicle reservation per 7 days.
Cadillac Summit Road - Daytime: 1 vehicle reservation per day.
Cadillac Summit Road - Sunrise reservations have a 2-hour entry window, and Cadillac Summit Road - Daytime reservations have a 30-minute entry window.
Reservations provide a timed entry, but do not require a departure time.
Reservations do not permit re-entry.
Motorcycles, motor scooters, and mopeds are considered vehicles, and a vehicle reservation is required for each.
Parking is available at two lots at the Cadillac Summit.
Reservations do not assign a specific parking space.
Parking is prohibited outside of designated spaces.
Recreational vehicles and trailers are prohibited on Cadillac Summit Road.
Vehicles must display an entrance pass while in the park, including Cadillac Summit Road. The entrance pass is required in addition to the vehicle reservation. Go to the park's website for information on the types of entrance passes that are available and how to obtain one.
Accredited educational groups should contact the park for information on how to obtain a park entrance pass fee waiver and gain access to Cadillac Summit Road when vehicle reservations are in effect.
Businesses wishing to conduct activities in the park must obtain a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) to operate in the park and to obtain access to vehicle reservations for CUA holders. Businesses cannot use private vehicle reservations to conduct business in the park.
Island Explorer does not provide bus service on Cadillac Summit Road.
Vehicle reservations are required for Cadillac Summit Road from May 26 through October 19, 2021.
30% of the Cadillac Summit Road Sunrise and Daytime vehicle reservations will be available for purchase 90 days in advance of the reservation date.
70% of the Cadillac Summit Road Sunrise and Daytime vehicle reservations will be available for purchase at 10:00 am (ET) two days in advance of the reservation date.
The total fee per vehicle reservation is $6.00:
The vehicle reservation fee is not discounted for annual and lifetime park entrance pass holders.

Cadillac Summit Road - Sunrise vehicle reservations may be changed at no cost to another date prior to the date of the reservation, but it cannot be changed to a Daytime vehicle reservation.
Cadillac Summit Road - Daytime vehicle reservations may be changed at no cost to another time and/or date prior to the time and date of the reservation, but it cannot be changed to a Sunrise vehicle reservation.
