School and Non-School Group guided tours of Thomas Edison's Laboratory provided by park rangers or a Volunteer. Online Reservations Only. These tickets are not sold in person at Thomas Edison National Historical Park. We will begin taking reservations August 19, 2025.

School and Non-School Group guided tours:

School Group Tours for the 25 & 26 school year will be available for reservation starting on August 19, 2025.
To reserve School and Non-School Group guided tours, visit the Recreation.gov Reservation page. Select “School Groups”, "Adult and Commercial Group Tour: The Life and Times of Thomas Edison" and select the date and time for your tour.
Tour Opportunities will be held on Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10:00 EST-11:30 EST & 11:30 EST-1:00 EST.
Up to 30 Students may attend a tour. We ask that you bring a minimum of 1 chaperone for every 15 students. A maximum of 4 chaperones may attend.

Glenmont Mansion and Grounds Closed
Glenmont, the Edison family home and surrounding estate grounds, are currently closed until further notice due to operational and safety considerations. The Laboratory Complex remains open Thursday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Please check this page for updates.

Need to Know

Individual Tickets Required
- When booking your reservation, please ensure that you account for and pay the $1 Non-Refundable Reservation Fee for all adults and children (anyone under 16).
Entrance Pass Also Required
- All visitors 16 and over must purchase a $15 Entrance Pass. Purchase in advance on Recreation.gov or on site at the Laboratory Visitor Center, 211 Main Street, West Orange, NJ. This entrance fee does not guarantee a ticket for the Glenmont Estate Tour.
- EXCEPTION: If you have an IA Park Pass or Site Annual Pass the $15 Entrance fee is waived for the CARD HOLDER and 3 ADULT GUEST. IA Park Pass or Site Annual Pass must be present when you check in.
- Please arrive at the Laboratory Visitor Center first, located at 211 Main Street, West Orange, NJ, 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. Late arrival may result in forfeiting your reserved tour. If you can't make the tour please give us a call at 973-736-0550 ext. 11.

Tour Type
- When you sign up for an Adult Group Tour, you will receive an email within 5-7 Business days, where a representative will ask you whether you would like to do a tour of the Laboratory or the Glenmont Estate.
Ticket Availability
- Primary Booking Window: Tickets will be released for sale on August 6, 2025. at 10:00AM ET.
Group Tour Schedule
- Open 10AM Eastern Time Zone, Fridays
Ticket Rules
- Each Recreation.gov user account may purchase up to seven tickets per day.

Booking Windows

Primary Booking Window: Tickets will be released for sale 90 days in advance of the date of scheduled tour at 10:00AM ET until midnight the day before the tour.
Secondary Booking Window: Tickets will be released for sale 7 days in advance of the date of scheduled tour at 10:00AM ET until midnight the day before the tour.
